October 2009: MASC is pleased to present the last edition of the magazine “Está na Hora!” ("It's about time!"), which includes, among others a presentation of the winners of the photo competition "Images with Impact". Promoting the mission/vision of MASC, the magazine contains news, interviews, photos, people's opinions and stories about Civil Society in Mozambique and activities in the areas of governance monitoring and advocay. |

Baseline study on Governance Monitoring and Advocacy in Mozambique |

The Mozambican political system formally provides opportunities for citizens to influence government policies and practices. However political dynamics and weak capacity of CSOs to take advantage of these opportunities reduce their actual influence. This is one of the main conclusions of the the baseline study, Governance Monitoring and Advocacy in Mozambique. The baseline study is describing the current state of governance and the involvment of civil society organisations in governance monitoring and advocacy in Mozambique. |

The Annual Report 2008 indicates that MASC is up and running, having implemented a large part of the activities that were planned for 2008, however it is still too early to show significant outcomes or long term impact. MASC was officially launched and its systems and procedures were set up in 2007, while 2008 was the year when MASC actually began to operate. |
